Napa Valley Can't-Miss Farmers' Markets

There’s nothing better than bringing home fresh seasonal produce, artisan pantry goods, or even a colorful and unique bouquet of fresh flowers from the farmers' market on a sunny summer morning. They offer a mellow, friendly, and laid-back atmosphere to take some of the hustle and bustle out of your weekly shopping trip, and allow you to bring a farm-to-table experience straight into your own kitchen while supporting local small farmers. The farmers’ markets of Napa Valley are a can’t-miss experience all their own and are like an extension of the old-world feel of the area. Here are a few of the wine country markets you have the chance to walk through if you’re visiting or new to the area.

St. Helena Farmers’ Market

Running from May through October on Friday mornings from 7:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., the St. Helena Farmers Market offers gourmet food vendors for a quick bite or picnic lunch as you browse the selection of fresh produce and locally hand-crafted items. You can even bring the kiddos along to enjoy the kids’ programs and playground. You may even catch a chef preparing a dish from the seasonal produce available for purchase. It’s a morning activity for the whole family.

Winter Farmstead Farmers Market

Also in St. Helena, this market runs in the months opposite the St. Helena Farmers Market, from November to April on Fridays from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. You can partake in the winter harvest yields of vendors like Long Meadow Ranch, Santa Rosa Seafood, Perfect Edge Cutlery artisan goods, Monaco Truffle, Triad Beverages, Madeleine’s Macarons and so much more.

Calistoga Farmers Market

This farmers market runs year-round on Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Here, in addition to the traditional fresh produce, you can find a selection of cut flowers for a centerpiece on your breakfast table or a new ornamental plant for your home garden. Pick up some fresh seafood or smoked salmon for an afternoon snack or stop by the Mediterranean deli for lunch or pick up some olive oils and vinegar to take home and add to your cooking staples.

Napa Farmers’ Market

This traditional farmers' market highlights locally-grown produce and is easy to get to from the area of downtown Napa. It’s an interactive community event that gives you a chance to get to know your neighbors while you pick up some fresh produce for your weekly meals. You can find this farmers market year-round every Saturday, and also Tuesdays from April through October, from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

Farmers’ Markets in Napa Valley Have Something for Everyone

Farmers’ markets are great ways to get out and get to know your neighbors and your community if you’re a newly-settled local, otherwise, they’re a great way to get a taste of the local atmosphere if you’re just visiting. Pick up some artisanal goods to serve as a Napa Valley souvenir, or maybe try some seasonal produce you’ve never tried before. While many farmers’ markets are relatively similar, they’re each as unique as the locations they sprout from, so you’ll have to visit each Napa Valley farmers’ market to see for yourself.
